Objectives

• To drive visionary designs and innovative solutions for raising awareness of green technology and eco-products.
• To engage future decision makers in the creation of a better tomorrow through green technology , the understanding of green design strategies and integrated design process and the promotion of the green agenda.
• To discover and promote talented designers and idea generators at national and international levels

Theme :: Green Future - The Next Frontier

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) and Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech) with the collaboration of the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), the mission of IGEM 2011 is to advance and promote sustainable and environmentally responsible designs that communicate and provide for a better world ; and a sustainable legacy for future generatioins.

Category 

Category A :: Visual Art

This category on the advertising savvy to create a promotional campaign based on the theme and criteria of the challenge. The promotional campaign can be in 2D Poster / 30 seconds video or animation (video or animation must be accompanied with a storyboard)

Category B :: Photojournalism

This category calls on the creative expression through a series of photos that capture and portray the current issues and application of green technology and the promotions of green solutions in our daily routine.

Category C :: Product & Packaging Design

This new category promotes the use and application of green technology in designing a product . The product must take into consideration the entire environmental cycle which contributes to the development and disposal of the product such as environmental friendly materials , its contributing factors to the environment when in use and its end lifespan ie if the product is biodegradable and can be broken down into usable material etc.

1st Prize :
RM 8,000 cash + certificate + trophy 

2nd Prize:

RM 5,000 cash + certificate + trophy 

3rd Prize:

RM 2,000 cash + certificate + trophy 

All short listed teams will be awarded RM1,000 cash prize and Certificate of Distinction (max 10 entries per category).
Certificates of Participation will be awarded to all entries.

Challenge Schedule

4 April 2011 : Announcement of call for submissions

31 May 2011 : Submission of participating teams & concept by university or college (form A)

12 August : Final deadline for submission of works

24-25 August 2011 : Announcement of short listed works

7-10 September 2011 : Exhibition of short listed works. All works will be presented for public viewing

8 September 2011 : Award Presentation Ceremony
